Knowledge Required

A understanding and knowledge of fibre and copper cabling including testing parameters, testing equipment and testing techniques.

A good understanding of how voice and data networks are connected.

A good understanding of Voice and Data Patching.

Knowledge of Server Patching within a Data Centre

An understanding of Voice over IP (VOIP)

A good knowledge of the main and ancillary active devices generally associated with LAN / WAN.

Computer literate and familiar with MS Windows and the MS Office Suite of Applications (in particular Word and Excel)

IIM knowledge and skills will be a bonus with special reference to the Patchview application.

Familiar with Internal Call Raising Software (e.g. Assyst, Remedy)

Familiar with Cable Management Systems (CMS) Software

Experience of using Fluke Handheld Network Testes and DTX Testers

Experience of using a light Source to resolve Fibre Patching Issues
